An Ecosystemic Puzzle

We are very used to defining nature by its pieces. It is clear to us that these pieces are different from one another. This difference has allowed us to value some pieces more than others. By being the ones to define nature, we have also felt legitimate controlling it, playing with it or destroying it. But, like in a puzzle, all of the pieces of nature, including ourselves, are connected to each other and create larger patterns that aren’t necessarily visible at first glance. 

For years, we have disregarded the way that many of the pieces fit with each other in the infinite ecosystemic puzzle that is life. We have destroyed pieces and we have made endless copies of others, creating an imbalance that no one really knows how to deal with. Some think this imbalance does not involve them, most face its consequences every day; climate change seems too big to handle. Yet, what does nature need to sustain itself? Let’s step back and take a look at how the pieces of the puzzle connect to each other.
